These particular Rumal kerchief squares are traditionally done in glowing silk embroidery onto a fine muslin cloth in the Himachel Pradesh province at the foothills of the Western Himalayas north of Punjab. Allegedly made by the doud wallah ( milk seller ) cast or social class for marriage gifts. The depiction is typically in celebration of Krishna and as seen here with two Gopi girls
